9c is 48f. my house was pretty cold and i wasn’t doing prime 95 lol. with prime 95, it usually is about 40c i think.
If your house is colder than 48 degrees F, you must be wearing a coat while huddled under several thick blankets while you play.

dirk. 500 watts is bare minimum. just don’t plan on ocing at all.
i would go 750 or higher.
Clearly you didn’t look at my parts list entirely. The parts I have on the list are extremely efficient and require fairly low wattage. Overall they require about 375 W of power, which is in the ideal percentage range (50%-80%) for a PSU.
On a separate note, I have made a second PC build using AMD. It’s cheaper, but less efficient. I’m heavily considering this other build though, as it will still work well for the level of gaming I do. I also love the fact that it is cheaper, as I’m all for saving money.

Well i didn’t knew you were open to an “hybrid” rig, I like it! :P
Only problem with that CPU is: check the motherboard power channels, most of AM3+ 970 are not fully compatible with the FX8350.
They say they are, but the truth is that if the mobo at least doesn’t have a native 6 phase CPU VRM it will give power issue (vdrops) to the processor even if you don’t do OC (those mobo were made for the previous FX series). That mobo is 4 + 2 phase and i founded info about freeze under heavy load even with a FX8320 (yep that’s a vdrop issue). A good cheap mobo able for sure to handle that CPU is the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P.

I’ve checked my specs thoroughly before putting together the parts list. The motherboard supports FX CPUs.
Here is the proof: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130679
Under the specifications and under Supported CPU and CPU types you will see FX CPUs are supported.

Yeah, i know. Under supported CPU you will see FX CPU, what they don’t tells you is that FX 8320/8350 will suffer of vdrop on that motherboard (power lines on such motherboards are not able to handle the needed power -> overheat -> bluescreen). I can link you some info about this issue in pvt if you don’t trust me.

ah i gotcha.
I’ll look in to other motherboards
I think dirk should go with intel graphics. everyone knows they da best.

Get an i5, you will die before the i5 dies.
Its stupidly reliable and quite nice. Psst. Nice things are expensive.

I almost bent a pin on it while installing mine >.>;;
stupid clumsy hands dropping stuff on the one thing that isn’t carpet
pshhh all a cpu has to last is like 6 years tops.

I built my computer in 2008, and it still works like a dream. It has a Qwhatamajigger9000something CPU. (the date may be off, and I dont remember the cpu)
Edit: Its a Q8600, so EVEN MORE ANCIENT. I guess the only reason my PC runs nicely is the 500 dollar video card I got in 2011, for a discount of course.

AMD model numbers don’t make sense.
Update
Noctua CPU cooler is here, waiting for thermal paste remover to arrive before I get down to business with it. Depending on how it goes i may install the 2nd fan, will fit but won’t leave much room fbetween it and the rear fan, but it will be exhausting straight into the rear fan anyway.
Currently there is a SP120 in the SYS_FAN header evacuating the case
Case now has a 3-way PWM splitter on order, planned to be coming from the CPU_FAN header and going straight out to the rear fan (changed for corsair SP120) and the CPU fan. System fan will be linked to another SP120 which will be dedicated to providing the GPU with plenty of fresh, filtered air. Old rear fan has been moved to front of case, there are now 2 fans in series supplying the hard drives with filtered air (the old one couldn’t get the air through the grills, wasn’t meant for static pressure)t
Installed another hard drive
Installed a maintenence light (LED strip) so I can see what i’m doing in the pins under the GPU and general light in the case
Further updated will come when possible
Addition of the high flow rear fan has helped lower CPU temps on stock cooler by 2-5C purely by evacuating all the hot air near-instantly so it doesn’t re-circulate
I packed as much awesomeness into this beauty as I could.
I see you even made it backwards compatible with floppy disks. Genius.
