Bomb Camping

Seems that op has a misconception on how to get points in detonation.

 

I don’t personally approve of such tactics…but I don’t see why not if the game mechanic allows it. So if a squad decides to bomb camp, they it is your team that has to adapt to that tactics. If your team can allow an enemy squad to get both bombs and actually setup a camp location…I don’t think your team has a good chance of winning anyway. Might as well you claim that 4 person squad is OP and should be stopped.

Camping the bomb is a legit tactic. Won a game today because their last point was held by frigates. Tie game. There was no way a group of fighters was going to live in that area long enough to drop off a bomb. I opted to say we should hold the bombs to win that way. Last 3 minutes was me hiding with one bomb behind a rock and the other being jockeyed around in the middle as one carrier died to enemy sniper fire before picking it up and heading the other way. 

 

As long as bombs held counts towards a victory condition, it remains a legitimate tactic. 

 

I say kill/player score should probably count, or just end it in a draw period, forcing the sides to push for the drop. 

 

I will say in another game my team was pretty much spawncamping the other, and one guy had the bright idea to hold the bombs and farm for kills. I said xxxx that, grabbed the bomb from our carrier that strayed too close, and dropped the darn thing off. xxxx that camping drawing out xxxx. 

It’s mentalities like killvirus that make EMP such a pain, when I play emp I like winning because I have ships that need to be unlocked modules that need buying. Although I will say If the onther team has the power to break the defenses and plant the bomb, THEN PLEASE DO SO, because time is money as well. But when it is down to one more station each side and 3 mins left I say hold those bombs and wait it out for a win, don’t just keep charging in and lose the bomb. Because it’s not about how many bombs you pick up it’s how many of the active bombs your team has that give you the win (if there are 2 active bombs on field, you need to hold both of them to win or just one as long as the other team doesn’t have the other bomb when the timer goes off). And what does getting more efficiency points give you anyways? If it gives you more money and stuff it’s definitely not a huge amount (totally not worth farming).

Every time my team starts this tactic ,and no its not only corp guys doing it, i’ll go afk and watch some TV or smth. similar. I can see and understand that’s a good and usefull tactic in “realistic” , but in arcade where you respawn (yeah i know we who play arcade are a shame and n.o.o.b.s w/e) it’s just boring like hell . This mode is not for purely kills , it’s about carrying the bomb AND planting the bomb and kill those who try to kill the bomb carrier while he is in ACTION. Sry guys , but camping is sucking the action out of this mode in arcade (yeah i know arcade sucks and is not skilled w/e).

The mode is called “Detonation”, not “Capture the bomb”. If there is one station left on both sides, so be it, bomb camping ensues - that’s the win condition after all. Especially with team sizes we have currently. What we are supposed to talk about here are situations where one team f.e. rushes, takes out one station and then camps with bombs for remaining 15 minutes. And this is just bullshit, not a “legitimate tactic”.

 

I personally camped bombs once (with a friend), long ago in T1. And that is only because enemy team was like 80% sniper frigates, so I figured that if they want to win, they’ll have to move their asses from respawn and come for the bombs. They did that like one minute before the end and didn’t manage to do anything anyway.
