Thanks for the recommendations Milfuelle, these look interesting. Did watch Elfen Lied, that was pretty cool stuff.

Now first thing on my must-see anime list I would absolutely  recommend  to everyone is Hoshi no Koe - Voices of a distant star; probably the best OVA I’ve ever seen. A  beautiful  story and work, a true emotional  rollercoaster that takes only 25 minutes to see, which you will never regret, and probably watch again. And again.

"The movie’s sheer ability to pack that much emotional punch into a 25 minutes ~ now THAT is story-writing talent. It totally disproves the myth that movies have to be long to have good character development. "

It’s from the talented director Makoto Shinkai, that is also behind animes Byousoko 5 Centimeter and The place promised in our early days (you should watch these too if you didn’t yet). Don’t even read the Hoshi no koe plot description or review. Just go watch it. And make sure you find the full hd version, there is one out there, and totally worth it.

Meh. My preferences are niche. Very niche.

Bigger than big, stronger than strong.

I bow to no one, not even God.

Fang of the Sun Dougram We never approve your independence from our Federation.

A wonderful show about friendship, justice, and defending your neighborhood from evil!

Are you metal enough?

Elfen Lied i think it’s better in the manga than in the tv series, but its an excellent recomendation.

That’s a very common saying for most manga and book adaptations, and it’s mostly subjective, because not all the people that watch anime also read manga, same goes for books and movies and for myself, since I am not into mangas and novels, I could not care less how much better a certain manga/book was for someone that likes to read them. I do wish they made more anime based on mangas like Berserk of course, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to go read the manga now (unless someone gets me an actual one made of real paper that I can put in my hand and read in my bed).

Could also agree that Elfen Lied lacked could be better in some aspects, it is still unique enough and interesting to be worth seeing, for those that don’t mind the amount of AR material in it.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion both seasons are well… awesome

Actually I didn’t like the Code Geass Lelouch that much. Only seen first season so far, so I can only comment on that. For me, the main problem was pacing, which was a bit too slow, and felt somehow streched over the 25 episodes. It had some good starting promise on a few characters but they just didn’t develop as much as I was expecting. There were some good moments at the end, but not enough to justify the whole 25 episodes. The music and sound were ok, nothing ground breaking but it was decent. Some of the happenings also seemed a bit familiar, and did just not have enough weight on them, I really did not feel the connection, doubt and terror that Lelouch was enduring due to the events in the series. Overall, it just span for too long to be fully enjoyable. You do not have to take 2 minutes to explain the full plot up so far at the begining of every new episode, some of the stuff was showed like 10 times to the point that it become really annoying. This anime is definetly overrated for my taste, and my rating for it is 7, since it is not really that original to be that extra something. It is still a good production, would probably give an 8 if it would be a little more shorter or if just more stuff developed over the first season. Still looking forward to season 2, tough, since at the end of the 1st things finally started to pick up.

I would instead recommend Aoki hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova (aka Arpeggio of Blue Steel), which is imo really underrated. The setting is similiar, plot is more simple to follow and characters are also very interesting, and overall production is just triple A quality. The shortness is it’s only backdraw tough, since the story is a bit rushed, leaving you open with some plotholes. The opposite problem of what Code Geass S1 had, but here is actually some really good material that I would be very excited to see more of it. Enjoyed this much more than the Code Geass, and will probably rewatch it.

Arpeggio of Blue Steel i love that anime! Takao and Hyuuga are both very funny. Unfortunately the anime doesn’t make any justice to the manga. The characters their personalities and reactions are better in the manga than in the anime also the plot is more interesting in the manga.

Haruna was the best! Yellow powah rocks.

Yeah, Haru-Haru definetely one of my all-time favorite anime characters.

In the manga she actually explains about the coat. The Mental Model is just nanomachines. Haruno poured like HALF of her machines into that coat. Without it, her processing power is cut it half.

Dunno why she has such pretty lingerie but I’m not complaining.

Well, cannot miss one of the funniest moments in the series as well:

Potatos are even better.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion both seasons are well… awesome

I’m considering this after seeing it featured in a Super Robot Wars game.

Suzaku can suck it, I’ll just keep deploying Kallen.

Which reminds me, I almost forgot about

It’s a pretty cool show, and would’ve been hailed as great. It just had the ill fate of being aired at the same time as Gurren Lagann.

The legend of the Legendary Heroes

Just watching first episode of this and allready loving it, really like the addition of humor in it too. Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll be sure to check the others out!

Dude, the second season is where it gets all EPIC. You see so many surprises that in more than 10 years of watching animes he is still on my top 1.

About fairy tail now. Does it get any better? I mean, im stuck at ep. 80. And basically stoped watching because every fitght is the same, the main character takes a lot of beating, casts some dragon breaths, and still get beated up, then he eats some fire, and cast exactly the same attks, but for some lacking reason this time it xxxx all up…

I mean, it would be like dragon ball z never achieving super sayan levels, and the only strike goku had the entire anime was kamehameha.

But hey, 2 hits, accel world and sword art online, Lot of fun watching those.

Tengen toppa gurren lagan (something like that) is so ludicroous you can cry laughing at it.

Eureka Seven also very good, but i still havent finished it because im afraid if i finish it ill have nothing to do with my life. kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Same happened with elfen lied.

Ill try to mount a list just like residente’s and post it here.

Just did a list very quickly from what come to my mind: http://myanimelist.net/animelist/paparola

Good to hear Code Geass gets more interesting in S2, I was really hoping for that. And keeping a list is very good for animes, I started making my list this year too, and it is actually quiet an enjoying task.

Watching a ~100 series long show demands great dedication to it and takes lots of time, as I seem to understand from your comments what is happening with fairy tail (and could never get into epic long series like naruto, one piece…). Longest one for me was Gundam Seed, which was totally worth those 50 episodes, and even Full Metal Alchemist was a little too long of a story I think. I personally like to stick to short, 13 episode format, or 25 at max per season, so it is easier to switch and experience more different series quicker, and see more new things.

The thing with Naruto, Fairy tail, Bleach, is to watch it without the huge amount of fillers they have. I had a great site to see which epis were fillers, but it went offline, but if you google it you find a list with all the fillers, and dont even download it. Naruto for example, ranges from 50% filler to 90% in some seasons. Overall, about 50% of all episodes on Naruto are fillers. That happens with pratically any anime that passes the 100 eps mark. The ones that have less epis usually doesnt have filler (not a rule tho).

But yes, go for it, code geas is great, the second season is the epic one tho.

Fillers on Fairy Tail? Lola we must have watched different animes. don’t you dare to compare Fairy Tail with Naruto!

Fillers on Fairy Tail? Lola we must have watched different animes. don’t you dare to compare Fairy Tail with Naruto!

Im not comparing them, but, i find fairy tail a little too over-repetitive, im not saying naruto isnt, kage bunshin no jutsu over and over again. But, like the episode im on, is on a part where some big magic or device was activated on a paralel universe and sucked the entire town to another dimension, where allegedly those cats reign. And that sounds to me like a huge boring filler since they find an enemy and have to run cause they can’t do anything since the world doesnt have magic…

That, combined to the fact the main character has what, 1 or 2 diferent kind of attks, a fire punch, and a fire breath, that he repeats over and over… I just think it could be waaaaaaay better. And as usuall, main character is dumb as hell, and never gets smarter. At least on Naruto the main character gets 1 IQ point every 100 episodes.

But i HATE naruto the anime version because it has sooooooooooooo many fillers that it gets me sick, so i usually stick only with the manga, and ocasionally when a good fight is made into anime, i watch it.
