  1. 1. "Star Conflict Time/SCT" ingame clock

Recommended Posts

After playing EVE online for some time ago I gotta say having a clock rigged to one time zone was insanely helpful in planning all sorts of events.

Would having a UTC-only time zone ingame clock help you and your friends in your everyday playing and planning? All events and modes would show their begin and end times in that time zone for easier player reference. Please leave a comment and vote on the poll.

I think it would help seccons the most, I'm all for it, but it will probably be in the time zone of Moscow.

I like this idea. I also like the idea of it being UTC and not linked to GMT. With GMT, it's often difficult to figure out the time relative to other players.

By using UTC as the general standard, 5 PM for me, Living in Las Vegas, NV USA would also be 5 PM for somebody in Europe, for example.

Yeah im just tired of calculating time zones for everyone if i want a minor event to happen in OS or something, for me it doesnt matter what time is used as standard, it would just be a lot easier to say "lets just meet back at 5pm game time" and that would be the end of it.

Nightwing5, you are confused. UTC time is identical to GMT time. And that's the best time standard to use for cross-time-zone coordination, because everybody involved needs to know only their own offset from UTC (i.e. their time zone).

Good afternoon, any frequent player ends up controlling the start time of any event almost automatically and without difficulty live in the time zone in which he lives, I do not see it necessary and it is to give work to developers who already work a lot for continuous updates that the game offers for the satisfaction of the players.
What if it would be very good for the colony of players in Spanish or
Spanish speakers is a complete translation of weapons, equipment of ships and description of the missions as well as the correction of some deficient or erroneous translations.
Certainly the advice offered by the game before starting any mission is very interesting and sometimes teaches you things you do not know, it is a pity that lasts only a few seconds on the screen, if the text is long does not give time to read it.
Thank you for your continued interest in improving the game.

This is the confusion that always messes up all the smaller events and sometimes the bigger ones as well.

I think it would be a great idea regardless of what the forums think, solely for better organization and understanding of in-game event times.

"I don't like clocks because I don't care about the time" isn't a valid excuse. XD

Voted. It would be really helpful to have a clock. Also if possible it would also be great if regular tasks panel could show the time until next reset which happens every 18 hours.

I voted 'no' for clock. Here's why:

1. if you plan you tasks clearly, there's no need;

2. on Windows, it takes one second to press Alt+Tab to switch the view to see the desktop, so you have the clock there. You can keep it pressed, no need to release, so you see the clock and just come back to the game.

3. After playing for a few weeks/months, you know for sure how long it takes to do the daily tasks for goodies. The longest are usually the escorts - not the ladies, the cargo ships. So again, easy to plan

As Rebardo said here, it would be work for developers which could be better focused, on more important tasks. Just my 2 cents ;)

Orca, if you say 'we meet here in 5 hours time for an event' everyone computes 5 hours for him/her so no need, on again.

It's not for you it's for groups and nonstandard events.

That's local time.

Once again that's largely irrelevant.

Too bad nobody knows to say that lol.

Okay, since we're subjective all the way, here's my input.

I've been playing the game for about 4 years now and every, single, time, i organized an event of any kind it ended like this:

- roughly half didn't come because they didn't calculate the time zones right (up to 2+ hours late or early or something with daylight saving time)

- a quarter did manage to calculate but managed to be an hour late or early so they usually log out in the worse possible moment

- the rest is just what i managed to scramble from randoms i found at that moment

I can manage different time zones, this is about people that can't (probably the majority of players in my experience, idk). Yes, there are ways, from third party apps to widgets of some kind or similar.

I have no use of an ingame clock showing me my time, im always looking at my clock on the wall or my phone to see what time it is.

I just thought that "wouldn't it be useful if this ingame clock showed only the UTC time zone in which everything happens anyway", even if i know how to calculate and manage different time zones.

This way every competitive mode will have a unified start time and end time showing the same values to everyone, daily reset time at 00:00 so you snatch all the dailies, open space task times and so on.

Not only will it make sense in the organizational terms once its implemented, it would even be easier for the developers (i think at least) to announce virtually anything and do everything a lot easier when dealing with people on different continents. If anyone can explain it better than me, please feel free to explain why a single time zone ingame clock would be a better idea than the one we have right now.
