Pilots! We are back with more information about the latest designs that will appear in the game in the future updates. Among them are: improved trading, new game modes, tweaks of existing modes and of course, new ships!

Today we are going to tell you about a new ship — the Federation's guard frigate Boremys!

The war with Aliens ruined many companies of the former Federation, brought death and destruction to remote systems. But those who managed to stay afloat, got their hands on the projects of their broke competitors for next to nothing. For Sci-Tech Universal, a corporation that rose from the ashes of the war, one of such acquisitions was the project Boremys — an improved version of the guard frigate Archelon.

The revitalized project started off slow: there was a lack of parts for production, the ship's outdated software had no modern alternatives, and the team lacked qualified engineers. Many people simply fled from the fringe systems after the Invasion, and it turned out that there was nobody left around to finish Boremys. To avoid further financial losses, Sci-Tech contemplated abandoning the project. But help came from an unexpected ally.

By oversight, the blueprints of Boremys fell into the hands of a refugee engineer whose studies were cut short because of the war. He worked out the kinks in the schemes and proposed innovative solutions, while the problem with the lack of resources was solved by new investors, who were interested in the ambitious project. This is how project Boremys saw the light.

Boremys's advanced special module puts the ship into a particular state, where it cannot fire and use modules, while its resistance to all types of damage increases, and all incoming damage is converted into a shock wave damaging hostile ships.

The ship's thermal weapon has special aim assistance: if one of the projectiles hits the target, the remaining projectiles in the burst automatically home in on the target.

Boremys also possesses a unique modifier, that reduces module cooldown time, while slowing the ship each time the module is activated. And the frigate's active module can launch a projectile capable of pulling an enemy ship along with it.

The wait is almost over! Follow the news, and see you in space!

So lemme get this straight: the entire ship. Is one big energy converter. Okay.

Also this raises my suspicion even more since this is simply for the Bor... Bore... Boremys whereas the Executor and Dyrnwyn were shown together and the last three before were shown together. Makes me think we'll be seeing a new entry to the Ellydium Corporation's fleet after Boremys.

Let me remind you that almost one year ago Star Conflict wrote about updating Open Space. I guess you have created a huge update in all that time! One huge bundle once a year. And no updates for the rest of the time. Why don't you change this strategy? Don't you know that people like new things always? I mean, you can redistribute the pleasure, and give one little update every two weeks instead of ONE huge update every year.
Also, finally there is the frigate! Boromirus!

uhh... and what about the other 3 placeholders?

Oh boy, it is finally here.

The long awaited next in-line for the Federation turtle series (yes both Boremys and Archelon are giant extinct turtles)

Big fan of Guard frigates, regardless of faction.

But first, need to pick some bones...

Sounds interesting on paper, but how big is the shock wave radius? And what is the conversion rate? I know it is too early to go into detailed numbers, but if the result is 10% damage conversion in a 1500m radius, I would be disappointed.

Also, interesting. But judging from the clip it seems the base spread is quite large. Will it be another Dyrnwyn gun? And the bullets home in in what way? Will it be Missile Swarm tracking again?

Any and all modules, or just the exclusive active module in particular? Also, slow down by how much? Lasts how many seconds? I am assuming it is not a permanent speed reduction. Especially since this is a Fed Guard, which I assume has less shield than a Jericho Guard, speed would be one advantage it has over its Jericho brethrens. Taking away its speed (especially when I don't see ANY mention of speed boost on special module activation), would be less than ideal.

Yes I wondered where the Gravilasso would come in. Kinda expected it, since Gravilasso is up to R15 only, unlike most other modules that reach up till R17.

Boremys — an improved version of the guard frigate Archelon

Improved... How?
At least according to the description, the two ships only have one thing in common: both are Fed Guards.
The big trait on Archelon, aka Radiation Converter and forced aggro, is not present on Boremys.
I'd call it a side-grade, less of an upgrade.

Despite all the criticism, I do sincerely look forward to its release. Some things have to be used personally to get a feel for it (like the Dyrnwyn gun, Har Har).

Honestly when I first saw the model, the first thought is that this would be a ramming ship. I mean, look at that pointy thing in front! Expected it to be Archelon + Stingray hybrid.

Well turns out I am wrong :P

It also doesn't seem to have the Radiation Converter. Shame, cuz that would most definitely help with Fed Guards' comparatively weaker shield.

I will definitely get the ship, no question asked. But would I choose it over my Ronin or Patriarch? Hmm... dunno yet. Don't let me down, Boremys!

Though, I doubt it would be superbly powerful.

Good tank plus damage reflection in AoE? Sounds too good to be true.

I am mentally preparing myself for the inevitable 1) really small radius aka melee range, and/or 2) very low damage reflected to the point it can't kill stuff

Well, for myself, I am fed up of ships linked with "events" were you have to grind and grind in the hope of getting new stuff...

With less and less players (otherwise, why woold we need to pitch rk 1 ships to rk 17 ?), I think the game interest could be increased in other ways.

I also think so. Instead of grind, there should be new story lines, more involving stories. However, the ship looks promising, but one day there will be enough ships. I hope this moment comes and the devs focus on adding storylines.

Is it a rule that ship newer names have to have unusual pronunciations and spellings? Dyrnwyn, Archelon, Procyon, Brokk, Boremys, and so forth.

Looks like a phat Stingay. That's it.

Also...Really? Another pointy ship that can't ram things? Ramming is bae.

First, the ship looks really nice.

Second, I hope it will not be new Cutter or like it was NY 18 object or even like Thar'ga or Tai'kin when they came out OP.

Third;

Why should we try to get it if Archelon has all these nice low-rank bonuses?

Oh perhaps this new guard will be rank 5 and it will get even more bonus that Archelon have?

Hmm perhaps just because it looks very nice.

It is always nice to have high-rank ships in storage to collect dust on them.

Judging by the trend of the past few R16/17 ships, I'd say this wouldn't be much of a problem.

It is a Fed Guard, presumably with lower shield than a Neuron Zealot. And I don't see any mention of speed boost on special module activation.

Even if they make it like Executor with all the new ship-specific modules, the only modules that can be carried over to R17 are the following: MIRV, Plasma Devastator (which we all know how "good" it is), Conformist, Confrontation. Plus the bunch of Boremys modules. Gravilasso is limited to 11-15, tho Boremys do seem to have its own version of it.

I'd trust the devs to not make its spec module overpowerful, like a giant AoE Energy Converter.

In fact I'd be more worried about devs making the spec module too weak instead of too op.

Tho it might have interesting application in PvE. Hmm...

I would massively prefer a sweet new Jericho command over some Snotball with engine orbs :D

Looks awesome and sounds like an actual fun to play guard... Let's just hope this thing won't cost me another 720 Electrum units...

Jeez, I left for a few days and all hell broke lose, seems that the ship brought in some new faces too, but it better have some mobility as a fed guard, and most important that we will see some balance changes.

Can you paraphrase your sentence, please? I'd like to understand what you meant.
P.S> I like this new trend with making the ships streamlined, with those smooth curves. And, I hope one day somebody will change the skins on the old Empire snipers of about rank 6. They look like a piece of soap.
But, first of all, I would like to remind about updating-upgrading-modifying Open Space. I hope that after this ship-building period, the devs can focus on Open Space. There are millions of ideas from players. Like: building stations in OS, Cruisers and huge ships, new monsters, new races, new Trade, and its GUI and impossibility to trade automatically. I almost never use that uncomfortable thing. I don't like wasting time, and sitting and chatting and waiting in Trade. I'd like to post a part and get my money without any letters, waiting, scrolling, wasting, bleh.  :017:

I sure hope you are wright.

But don't forget even if everything is written nicely small thing like short reloading time  of module can make it OP.

Not to mention yet another auto aim weapon.

But yes let see it first and then it will be easier to say something accurate about it.

Ps, design of ship does look realy nice thumb up for that.

Auto aim is a bit different from homing projectiles.

This is all speculations, but judging from the footage, the 4 turrets fire in one rapid burst in a large-ish spread (looks like 2-3 deg but I'm bad at estimating). We don't know the exact delay between bursts, nor how much damage each burst deals, nor the tracking capabilities.

Again, we have to use it to truly understand it :P

Yes, it needs electrum. I am sitting on the max cap for weeks now. We need 60 electrum plates and a bunch of ship parts!

Ah dammit!

I knew I forgot something.

I was too bored to go online for the daily electrum. Now I have to grind all over again.

Are you sure that it needs electrum?

Last Ecm from empire didn't need it.
