Balance in PvP still bad

  • ORCA1911 changed the title to Balance in PvP still bad

PvP is always shit. Always will be.

Especially given the recent "balance" change that pits players against the same players regardless of how they play. My stats are generally not that great yet I always fight against people that I know are gonna own me.

That's not true. Back in dogs of war pvp was very well balanced and enjoyable. Age of destroyers also was not too bad (if you ignore the time when there were 12 destroyers in a battle because reasons).

I see imbalance as a form of challenge and i build new ideas around it (i eventually get sick of it since i invest so much time in my builds just to be owned by a imba-simpleton) but if we would ignore that, pvp is an ever-changing mode where you have to adapt fast or, well, die fast.

Each PvP should be challenge but well balanced one.

+25 or more difference in 9/10 games in team battle is not exactly challenge that gives you joy to take it.

Frontal blaster is the main issue atm whilst deconstructor and that superstrafing mobile guard post canceling energy fight for the 2nd and 3rd position. Besides that i could say nothing catches my eye in an imbalanced way much.

Focusing laser + magnetic disruptor active module?

Quantum defence?

Tai'kin with 80% of modules that are OP and Doomsday missiles spam?

Should I say more?

Not only focusing laser + magnetic disruptor but also Tilith + m.d. and Thi'Es + m.d.. But w/e the game is probably in the most unbalanced state atm (except maybe Thar'Ga release).

Man I would guess , that a very good MM system would need data from life performances so that it could learn.

Do not expect results in mo time. Godd thing needs time!

 

Even the often cited Elo rating system actually needs chess players challenging better as well as weaker players to level itself out (from player perspective in terms of accuracy of rank assigned in the short as well as in the long run)

Another example of rubbish, biased Matchmaker.

My team had one guy with R10 and R5 or R6 ship, and another guy that only had Palom - R3.

This was happening on Iridium Strand map, the big one where you had to capture changing beacons, one at a time.

it's not the ranks of ships which make you lose

makes no sense to show the screenshot of your teams unexperienced player vs. the other teams best 22k battles player.

 

it's the pilots behind it. not the ship ranks.

 

problem of the mm is the pilot distribution

but on that regard i agree, sometimes its just really strange.

 

(also i am not saying putting unexperienced r3 players is a good idea there, but it would not have hurt to distribute them amongst the teams)

Guy on Palom got 3 kills and 1 cap. I doubt he is a newbie. Some people take low rank ship to "exploit" the normalization bonus - yesterday I met guy that was making havoc in my team with bubble Lynx MkII - my 1.1k dmg Phaser was dealing 200 dmg to his hull.

Calling it an "exploit" is ridiculous. t1/t2 ships are still inferior because low rank equipment has worse stats (projectile speed and range being an important one) and they have access to far fewer modules depending on rank.

If you feel like the bonus is OP you can try t1, like many pilots did earlier (and then switched back to t4-t5)
