Match Maker is taking too long and is lame

Match Maker is taking too long and when you finally get in its not enough people to really enjoy it. I get in 2 vs 2 more often than not and the most I am getting is 6 vs 6. That's barely even worth the effort of playing.

 

I end up playing against the same few people the entire time and that too is lame. Also just fyi, someone checked the current amount of people logged in and it was ~5k so their is no reason why MM should be acting this way.

 

Any thoughts on why or how this is happening?

We need queue gages again. Remember the little gui that would pop up in queue to tell you where all the people are? Like hangar/T2/T3/T4/etc?

This was most likely removed because of declining population count.

I think carebear mentality kills the MM. They trying to make the MM as fair as they can. I think MM was already good several times, the only thing what they need is more ppl.
Even if they have 5k pp what I doubt, but let say 5k

Spit them to 5 (PvP, PvE, OS, Coop, Other) Other=Specops, dread, scl
so lets say you have 1000 ppl playing pvp.
split them to 5 tier so 200 in your tier
split them to 3 regions MM has 66pl
so around ~8x8 team should play.
But if 50% afk that still 4x8 teams...

If the 5k would be the true they could make decent games if they don't try to be carebear.

The i don't like the hotjoin its kills the tactics from the games. You can't select ship tactically at the beginning because you don't know who will hotjoin with what ship.
(Actually its not true, you can select the most OP Elly ship, and don't care about tactics.)

Before i get the hate messages, I don't wanna remove hotjoin, its a cool feature to give games faster to players, but it is only good if you have big games from the start. +1 player in a big game doesn't make much difference, but +1 player in 2v2 thats +50% increase. that change too much imo. I would tweek the MM to carebear less but in general give bigger games.

Yes, I believe you are right in this. I am still getting matches with people that don't pull their weight anyway so the carebear thing isn't working. I take back all the things I said about MM.

 

We need more people in battle whether nub or pro just more people.

Look at Steam stats. In last half year population melted by 38%. I know that majority is using Star Conflict launcher but Steam stats are showing curent trends very clearly. Grinding also need more time right now so players are doing daily missios for hours and they have no time for pvp. And this is an answer for your question.

I'd rather have 4v4 with all average-good pilots than a 8v8 with 4 players being worse than bots on both sides

The vets or wallet warriors will always destroy the competition regardless of how stupidly you "balance" PvP, so just start throwing like-ranks together instead of this awful mess.

Less ppl = better battle. I most enjoy 4vs4, it's the best amount. In massive battles everything depends on F_u'Kin's and destroyers, Thar'Ga is easy to beat :D. In small battles score depends on me not OP p2w players.

Agreed, average player for Steam is 403, I don't believe 11 out of 12 players don't use Steam.

AFAIK there are around the same amount of no Steam players as Steam players , so we have an average of a 800-900 Players.

Smaller battles are (mainly) won with skill (and alien ships), bigger battles are more likely won with tactics (and alien ships).

-> the problem is: you can't do tactics with randos, because they are very likely to just ignore you and stay in 9 outta 12 lrf when the gamemode is capture the beacons

=>therefore small battles are better

Winning is one thing but having fun is another. 4 man battles are not fun and just boring. Not enough action compared to large battles. I get that you guys don't like randoms but if that is the problem then that is what needs to be fixed. Train them instead of calling them fukn nub. And yes, ik not everyone is going to get it but you might be surprised how many do get it after things finally get pointed out to them.

I eaven like it better to jump in a running battle then to wait long.

MatchMaker is doing what it can to deal with circumstances.
