How do you beat Ariadne's Thread?

15 posts in this topic

Hello guys!

I've come back to the game recently and find myself doing the missions for the event ships that are available right now. However, I currently have the mission to beat 'Ariadne's Thread', which is really hard for some reason. I usually play my Grizzly-M with a build where nothing is higher than green :( I played with all kinds of teams, but I've not succeeded once. We got reasonably far with two destroyers, but I don't have a Destroyer yet and I'm playing solo.

What kind of build/team comp/strategy do I need to finally finish this mission?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for reading,

Julo

Well, you don't need to get one really. You need to play with someone who owns a vigilant.

Turns out, that all you need is a good Engineering frigate, a really good destroyer captain and two fast skirmishers. I used my Eagle and hugged the stations, until they were all destroyed. For the Destroyer boss, just hope he is not bothering with you, but your Destroyer buddy and pump out the damage. Not easy, very hard actually, but hey, at least I did it :005j:

Thanks for all the advice!

I as a very bad destroyer captain, a guard that was dead most of the game, an engineer that never died, and a gunship that did more than all of us, managed to do it.

I managed T4 with a Covert ops and we had 3 gunships(2 random gunships in that range and a Thar'Ga). Surprisingly it was fast, so long as the gunships keep the AI busy and 1 can do flyby shots who isn't as occupied with fighting off AI as the other 2, to assist the Covert in destroying/capturing the points.  If they crowd on you when you have to destroy the stations or cap, and there are enemy turrets near by, just drop a tact and you're golden(at least for turrets, might piss off the AI ships tho) but then just hit the module that makes you not appear on radar and you're fine again.

It's actually the easiest PVE... I done it with randoms under 3 minutes. For starters, use a Tar'kin or Thar'ga, highest DPS ships. The first two stations you need other players to grab aggro, and capture the station yourself without interruption. The next two stations is just plain simple, destroy them. The boss is a destroyer so fight it within 750m. or make it stuck around those big containers and kill it slowly. I would upload a video if I'm not on vacation... unrelated pic below with DPS demonstration .-.

Not everyone was/has been lucky enough to get all the parts for the Hack'kin, and the thar'ga was just way too much work to level and get all the components for.  Too much xeno cost, not enough ways to get it without having to be forced into pvp/squad pvp, with ships of max rank available in slots.

This PvE - as the others - can be very easy with people that know what they doing or very hard if they don't. You need 2 fast ships, one damage dealer and one tank. Optimal  - 2 interceptors, gunship + dessie, but it's doable with other ships, just may take a little longer. One ship has to gather the aggro, damage dealer - kill objectives and enemy guards, tank - self explanatory. With people that know what they doing and right lineup this can be indeed the fastest PvE in the game. It is different in that aspect that normally people are saying "you need to take a frigate for PvE" - well, not for this one. This one is anything that boring :D

A fast fed Cov ops also work, the key is don't fight every wave you see, there will be some very nasty waves that cloaks their ships and make every ship in range unable to cap beacon... if you're the last ship soloing, make sure leaves a wave of guard/engi and lure them to the edge of map, and speed back to capture the beacon. Boss destroyer fight on cov ops requires some dog fight to dodge enemy fire and plasma arc to quickly take down the boss. Also have hull heal and reconstructive hull (Forgot name, +50 hull per second passive module) ready as it will take a bit of time. If you're a command, make sure to use energy tank build and energy converter to convert all damage back at once, take cover when energy shield is down, should do the trick...
