Compensate Long Queue Waiting Times With Synergy

I recently reinstalled Star Conflict after not playing for about three years. I thought the long waiting times in the queue might be better now, but it appears worse than ever. I am still pretty much a newb Tier 1 so I'm trying some PvE to get acquainted. Although only four players are needed and the "Average Waiting time" is listed as 18 seconds, I spend over 20 minutes waiting on the match to start. I don't know if the game has so little players that it would take this long or if something is just messed up, but I can't play the game if the most battles I can participate in is two per hour. I will never level up. People tell me "Just select all servers in options" but that means I am going to get lag city and one shouldn't need to do this.

 

So what I'm suggesting is, to help make up for these extremely long waiting times, players should get bonus Synergy for waiting. I think two minutes should be more than enough time to form matches and for every minute you wait after this, there should be like 5% bonus Synergy added at the end of the match. So if one waits 10 minutes: (10-2) * 5% = 40%. So if normally they were to receive 800 Synergy, they would get 1120.

 

I base these estimates on the fact that as PvE match takes about 5 minutes once it starts. With the two minutes in the queue, this would allow about two matches per 15 minutes. That's the amount of time spent if you waited 10 minutes in the queue, so 40% bonus is not unreasonable because otherwise, you'd have received probably 100% more (two matches). And my average wait is 15-20 minutes.

 

Maybe some may not agree with this, but for me, either the queue times get much shorter, a method similar to what I've described is enacted, or I'll find another game. This is not a "I quit!" post, but a reasonable alternative that may keep more players from leaving.

You probably were playing during a down-period. Generally around lunch time CST there are enough players online to get a match within a minute or less. Also, MM has actually been sped up considerably. You can join games that are in-progress if you are not in a squad. (Oh, and squads screw over MM. Don't do squads. The devs hate teamwork.)

I'd like the idea, but it's just a matter of timing. There are plenty of players. They just aren't on while you are on.

Also, depending on what tier you are trying to play, it may not give you a match. Players tend to concentrate tiers during certain periods of time for some reason. You should also be aware that SpecOps missions and Leagues will eat a good portion of the population when they are active. Make sure that they are not going on while you want to play. (Unless you want to play in them.)

I disagree with this post, shouldn't be a reward for unfortunate wait times, Devs don't owe players for the lack of players online at times. Population has been up recently so its just a case of bad timing for you i guess, anyway -1 to this.

But then i could max synergize my ships in a day by queueing usa only.

As ArcTic kinda pointing out, it can be abused. I queue in USA since not many queue, wait for an hour, tell my corp mates to queue USA only so I get that damn loads of synergy. (If it goes according to plan)

You get synergy quite easy in this game. There are plenty of modes to farm.

 

I mean, yes we need better rewards, but free compensation isn't the way. Instead, they should do something so that more people enjoy to stay in the game.

If anything, the synergy grind needs to be lessened. Grinding awful ships simply for the sake of the ship you actually want to use (including ships that are completely irrelevant to the target ship) is more than bad.

You say "owe" as if this costs someone something. It doesn't, but it will cost them if players leave due to this. And if you are advertising an average wait time of 18 seconds and it's over 20 minutes, that is either poor programming or fraud.

 

I have played early in the morning, late afternoon, and late at night and it's always the same. I've never seen that "Average wait time" clock over 1 minute and I've never waited less than 12.

 

I'm telling you, this is causing players to leave the game.

This is my point. You have to grind synergy. If you can get in only two matches per hours, that grind is going to be so much longer than if you could get in nine or ten. Regardless of the reason you are waiting, it is unfair to those players, especially if what some are saying is true, that they aren't waiting this long.

That makes no sense at all. I guess some of you just don't get it. Let me give (more) examples:

 

I find a typical battle is 5 minutes. If the normal queue wait was 1 minute (what it claims), that would allow a person to run as many as 10 matches per hour. Let's say you normally average 800 per match, so that's 8000 Synergy.

 

Now calculate the long wait. 15 minutes in queue, 5 minute battle. That's three battles per hour. 800x3=2400. 2400+65%=1560. 2400+1560=3960.  This is less than half what you'd have gotten in the about example in the same amount of time, most of it spent bored, staring at the screen.

 

There is no way to abuse the system.

Do the math. This wouldn't be possible.

 

It is called "compensation", not a reward. Look up the difference. Long waiting times are still disadvantaging players. This would simply make it less so.

How do you know that? Do you speak for all these supposed players that leave as a result of wait time? literally a easy way to solve this is just try for all servers, sucks US servers aren't that popular, suck it up and play all, i myself get games in US every other game besides RU. And, lol this is the first i have seen someone complain about wait time in awhile, so i don't know where you're getting your info from :fed013:

And how you want to implement it? It's bad if you get more synergy from waiting until the game starts than playing. Are you sure you want to promote more zombie players? Engaged in doing nothing useful to win games because synergy of long queues is free synergy.

 

Have you ever seen pve players who remain in the spawnpoint rotating the ship and firing, but without advancing or doing anything useful?

 

We need something to do better than waiting for the game to start in PVP. That's true, but not a compensation.
