Custom Match - Corp Dread Training Battles

Recommended Posts

Can we please have an option to have Dread Battles as a custom battle. The reason for this is so that corps can train members, test strats, ship lineups etc. Restrict the option to corporations, and only Officers, Vice Presidents and CEOs can set up the match. There should be no rewards as this is purely for training purposes.

Would be cool if you can train against other corps too.

Is this something that may get pushed up the development ladder if enough corps are interested?

For now I doubt it, but we may come back to it in the future.

I agree that it should stay closed for now.

I want incentive to log in during those times to play that mode.

Playing dread is SC version of tripping on acid. It should be a controlled substance.

Not implementing this is a little absurd. People have waited years for dreadnoughts, and the best they can get is maybe a chance to play if they're in a corp that managed to get 65k iridium together to build it, or can defend with a corp that has one.

Custom battles wouldn't fix this entirely as corps would need to bring their own dreadnought, but only getting to play once or twice a day at most (and most players don't get to fight one at all even if they're in the small percent of corps that can) isn't how to implement what's supposed to be the highlighted part of Season 2. You're calling it Season 2: Dreadnoughts. Follow through on this.

It is a bit ridiculous that I can't practice anything with dreadnoughts. Right now, all it is is actual dreadnought battles, with very few chances for scrimmages (and those generally cost quite a bit of iridium, at that).

Does any of you understand how many custom options for each dreadnaugh has to be there in order to make this? This is compleately new interface that current custom battle does not support even remotely.

Considering how big of a part in the game it was promised to be and has since become, the response isn't supposed to be an if. It's supposed to be a when. If the devs say "we're working on it and will implement it when we can" I'll deal with that. What I have an issue with is when they say "it's not planned." That's a big middle finger to everyone who can't play and to the people otherwise screwed by the decision. No time to train, no time to test things because % is always on the line, can't play against certain corps if they don't own a sector.

I fully understand that it's a big undertaking. So they should put it on their list. They could start by just letting us deploy our dreadnoughts as-is to the custom battles during off-hours (block access when sector attacks are locked for battle) Some corps would have advantages like they do now, or whatever. But at least people could play.

The corporations were asking for content and for something they could do and what would make it worth being in a corp. There are other games where there is also content for corporations only.

So make it so you have to be part of a Corp to take part in a custom Dreadnought battle.

If they are corp-only, must be hosted by officer or above of the corporation bringing their dreadnought to the battle (same as now), give out no rewards whatsoever and lock players from starting a battle an hour before regular sector conquest, I would rejoice because we would have custom battles for dreadnought fights.

I think most players would agree with this.

Same. I'd be perfectly willing to spend a hundred iridium or so for something like that, a low-stakes scrimmage.

I support this idea. As for implementation, it might be a little difficult, but I believe we can do it.

Just create the custom dread Battle, please! We want to practice and we want to show our members the dreadnought battle.

What if we created a mini "challenge another corp" gamemode which can be played at any time of the day? For example:

-a corp challenges another one to a fight

-the other corp accepts

-both corps stake a certain amount of iridium

-a percentage is taken by the system as a fee

-the corps send their pilots into the custom room, as usual, except that it is limited to 8 pilots per corp, and only from the two corps in the challenge (no recruiting mercenaries from other corps)

-they fight

-the winner takes home all the iridium remaining after the fee

This could be used for inter-corp challenges, but also for low-stake friendly matches. The advantages are:

-it would make custom matches possible

-it would still be limited to corps

-it would allow corps to train if they have enough players to form two wings

-it would NOT replace the sector capturing with fixed time zones since the incentives are different

-the system could subsequently be used for inter-corp tournaments

Big Idea and I support this.

Now THIS is a good idea I can get behind. +3.

Only sort of. I'd do it anyways, looks like this thread is doomed to obscurity.
