Infection and Double Agent Modes

2 new modes I was thinking about probably wouldn't take too much programing to add but might add a bit more interest to the PvE.

 

Infection: Based off the concept from "Homeworld: Cataclysm" Basically a Techno Organic Nanobot plague takes over your ship when you die in PvE and then makes it stronger and throws it back at you.  It would require respawns in PvE and the ability to lock out the choice of a certain ship.  Now not only would you have the mindless AI Drones you can massacre plus the predictable bosses you have an almost boss lvl difficulty ship in there with abilities that you may not know the abilities of(none grouped up PvE).  It would take rebalancing of the AI waves to work right.  Might also require refinement of the AI to get them to use the ships properly.

 

Basic appeal to me is a bit like the zombie craze at the moment there is something scary about literally facing yourself.

 

 

 

Double Agent(PvPvE): Taken from "Global Agenda" instead of just AI Drones on the other side there is also two players.  There by throwing wild cards into the very predictable PvE.  This will need to be monitored as people will try to abuse both sides by trying to always be the Double Agent or in the Standard 4 player group.  It is possible to get around this by saying that any refusal to start match will lock out this game mode for say 15 min not allowing requeue.  Groups will have to be limited to 2 people for it there by match maker grabs 3 groups puts two on 1 side and 1 on the other.  You will also have to watch out for people pulling high tier ships into lower tier PvE.

Not sure this would work - if you already manage to die to standard bots how would you stand a chance against the mini-boss version of yourself on top of it? Also most players don't die in PVE so would never see that mini-boss. Think the idea needs some tweaking, e.g. by spawning your mirror images automatically at a certain stage.

Many games have this, it's good fun. I'm not seeing any abuse by playing a specific role though (actually all the implementations of this that I know you do queue for a specific side anyway).

Ah ya only ever played G.A. that had a cycle that at first everybody wanted to play the Double Agent(which caused lots of drops in the queue when they didn't get the DA position) and it usually ended up being groups of 2 that got DA they rolfstomped the 4 PUGS that were attacking.  So then it got even worse as people started to think that the DA got massive advantages.  Then groups of 4 started rolling all the Pugs that were now playing DA.  So both sides got bad rap the queue died all together till they added no groups bigger then 2 and completely random which side you got on.
