New Game Mode: Realistic Combat Reconnaissance

Same deal as with Arcade Combat Recon.. except with no respawn other than your spare ships in hangar.

the way it's played in arcade, might as well be realistic mode. kills being the tie breaker after time ...

 

+ losing your captain doesn't necessarily mean an auto-loss (it is, but there's the illusion of a fighting chance atleast)

I really like this idea as well. It prevents people from just bringing the same ship over, over, and over again until either the captain dies or you lose the game from people feeding too many points.

taking out a pro enemy interceptor pilot would mean something in the match. I like...

Every time when I kill LRF, Engineer or something useful near their captain knowing they will respawn in 10-20 seconds with the same ship I feel bad for the mode.

 

You get Covert ops and go and try nuking, plasma webbing, plasma arc and suicide on captain and fail ? - Get another ship, you failure !

 

Been in a game where I am captain as ECM and we had no engineer.  Survived 4 squad CO attack twice, but on the third pass (nobody did hit back space and got engi) they got me. 

 

Making people like that just zerg and even use suicide module 564315536 times per match is bad.

 

 

I rather have this mode changed rather than adding new one.

 

So you have 3(4) lives assuming captain lives.

 

And since I heard soon we will have "only 1 race equipped" rule it will give a reason for having 2 ships of the same type. Ex. R8 and R9 ECM or R7 and R9 etc.

Jericho cannot compete equally without engineers without going pure defense.  Races only cannot work.  It was a nice idea, but the balance is just not there.

 

Combat recon as it is is fine.  Deaths are deaths like any arcade except capture the beacons.  As for capture the beacons, it merely changes your ship lineup.

 

Creating a siege type match would be good, but I feel people should somehow be able to bring back their original ships.  Maybe an increased spawn time?  The other team could still kill the other team, except for that lone recon warp gating across the map.

I'd like to see it changed to realistic, whole new setup where captain's 75% damage buff would have a special meaning.

 

If this happens i'm gonna challenge WPK to try getting me again, YARR! :D

If it is realistic we can just wait until your whole team has charged in one by one (as is common) and there's nobody left for the common 'defensive frigball'.

Or slowly peel people off one by one.

I agree with the sentiment though, it would be quite interesting to see this as a game mode. It would need to be clearly identified as being different from the already existing game mode so that new players are not confused, though.

I wouldn't mind if the game would clearly identify the objective of the game mode during the initial loading screen. And I do mean, clearly - not in a way that leaves any room for interpretation.

Already happening... it's just that they can keep feeding forever as it is now. If it's made realistic at least they will run out of ships and stop free feeding lol.

It will add some strategy. I feel powerless when looking at the enemy turtle and our 'hero mode' target practice dummies who cannot understand 'strategy' and just give them free wins. Happened 20 mins ago - we had 3 vs 1 kills right off in the beginning, they had a turtle with a few lemmings. Those lemmings learnt their lesson and stood with the flock. Our lemmings kept lemminging and we lost with something like... 60-70 vs 15? How awful is that? :(

I feel your pain, especially in games where neither captain dies. At least when the captain dies, you feel the victory was sort-of deserved. (Depending on the circumstances, of course - plenty of captains with a death-wish out there too)

I'd go with this. Realistic could benefit from having another game type, because beacons are a whole lot of pressure.

 

Would make for some pretty intense slugfests, and any good Capture the Beacons match is already intense.

it would be cool to have something akin to War Thunder's "historical" battle mode, with zero respawns (aside from other ships in our personal bays), launching from hangers, having to return to base to re-fit missiles or the like, etc...

 

Something that is a little more simulation. I think it would add to the epic feel of space battle.

like a last man standing mode. the problem is the long wait time for people who die first. that's why capture the beacons gives you 3 ships.

 

although would be nice for a tournament type mode, but not in the public rotation.

 

as for the captain, i suggested in another thread to give him an extra respawn - a chance for your team to smarten up. it would work better in public game modes. hopefully by then, you've sorted your team composition.
