Actually there is a T3 and T4 version of shipyard at least. The difference is very subtle though, and with a good squad, it makes very little difference in the time it takes to complete it.

If there is a difference, it's likely not in rewards. All =>T3 scenarios drop T4 gear.

It takes some communication, but you need to make sure everyone has a descent fit with no overlapping mods except maybe hull rep.  For efficiencies sake I would skip the four part mission. My best time in t4 pve is 5:09 all out tanking the boss.  Anomaly gen's rip his shield apart, but cost a ton.  Just make sure you STACK thermal risists.  If you cant take the pulsar use the wing on the ship as cover for the group until you can down him.

It may have been nero'd, but I suspect this is still an issue for people. This is a common misconception, so I'm going to use big letters.

There are no Tier 3 PvE missions!

Take Blackwood, for example. Fly T1 and you get T1 greens as your "purple" drop. Fly T2, and the purples are T2. Fly T3 and up and the purples are T4... because it's a T4 scenario.

So, if you're having trouble with a scenario, first check what ships you are flying. I've not voted because I've yet to be able to attempt Pirate Base with anything resembling success, but Blackwood is a cakewalk for T4 ships (remember, it's a T4 mission) and Dreadnought Sabotage is not so much hard as it is long and boring as hell.

To anyone concerned with the boss in Blackwood, here are a few tips:

1) Get out of his Line of Sight when the warnings pop up. This is Blackwood 101. If you can't tank that damage, don't try.

2) Fly a Frigate, preferably an [Empire] Engineer. This will allow you to tank the aforementioned damage.

3) Stack Thermal Resists. The Pulsar is thermal, the Punisher's lasers are thermal, and you'll be hit by thermal weapons from some of his friends too. Build to resist thermal and you'll live longer.

For rounds 1 and 2 you can pretty much do whatever you like. I am increasingly using Gunships for Round 2 just because of how quickly the nav stations go down to overdrive bubble guns.

I was surprised when one of the patch notes said T1 blackwood was made easier.  I flew it a few times and it shocked me how easy it was.  A team would only fail in round two because half the time they'd completely ignore the nav stations and die to bot spam.  In round three an interceptor could tank the boss' pulsar.

*yawn* Going to PVE with T4/5 ships and having a team that knows every spawn location of the enemy is what makes it easier. Approximately you can win in Blackwood Shipyard in about 6-7 minutes.

I have done the Pirate PVE but that requires a team that masters the spawn, and brings out the appropriate ships. (bubble guns for turrets)

Done Pirate Base, but I don't think I'm in any shape to do it repeatedly with just anyone. The first stage is really only doable with fighters/inties as opposed to the frigate lurching typical to most PvE missions - you can't afford to stay in one place for too long. The stages after that horrendous first one are a blast IMO.

It really depends on your ships/fittings/friends.

Mainly if you are in a corp people know how to play and it is this easy.

It is best for farming as it is simple and a lot of cash.

Even T5 is easy do-able.

Check your setup and teammates.

Happy to help if you need any info, but please consider the most OP ever: TEAMPLAY

  • 2 weeks later...

there is nothing wrong with pve geting signifigantly more difficult in higher tiers.

The reason is once you solve a pve encounter, you can take a team of people who have siimilarly solved the encounter and win every (or very close to every) time.   If a team can beat a pve once, they can beat it EVERY time.   you can memorize spawns and have guided torpedos/minefeilds/pulsars waiting for them, you can tailor your resists to the damage types the enemy deals, etc.   The only unknown element is the rest of your team, and squading lets you know that too.

In pvp as there is human oposition, the exact same map, with the exact same players on the exact same teams, using the exact same ships, can, and often will have wildly different outcomes.  thus the result is not a forgone conclusion.
